VOICE wins Green NGO of the year at the annual Green awards
VOICEs work across the country on waste reduction and recycling is recognised at national awards ceremony.
VOICE picked up the award for Green NGO of the year at the annual Green awards in Dublin on the 26th of February. The award recognises the extensive work that VOICE has been doing over the last year urging greener choices with consumers, businesses and policy makers.
“ We are thrilled to be recognised for our work on waste prevention and recycling. We have been slogging away at this for over 20 years, and now all our efforts are coming to fruition.”
The Green Awards are now into their 11th year celebrating sustainability in leadership, innovation and best green practice in Ireland. VOICE was in great company with the nominations for the category showcasing some of the brilliant organisations active across Ireland. Previous winners of the Green NGO award include the Rediscovery Centre, Irish Green Building Council and Food Cloud.
Since forming in 1997 VOICE has aimed to empower individuals and communities to take positive actions to conserve our resources and our environment. This award recognised the work done by VOICE over the last year, including our work with Zero Waste Cashel, Sick of Plastic (with Friends of the Earth) and the hugely successful Recycling Ambassadors Programme.
Looking forward to another busy year we have 3 new projects just launched: No Home for Plastic Research, Recycling in Apartments and Conscious Consumption Communities, with many more campaigns on the way over the year.
This award follows hot on the heels of Zero Waste Cashels’ recognition last month at the All Ireland Community and Council Awards. VOICE works hard to urge greener choices through working with communities, businesses and policy makers. These awards show that we are making a difference.
