The idea is simple; SHOP for your goods and DROP all of the excess/unwanted plastic back to the shop.
Both Lidl and Aldi have introduced permanent recycling bins in their stores as a response to our two days of action , however they missed the point !
We do not want end of life solutions, we want to remove the plastic completely.
Let's keep the pressure on and SHOP and DROP every time you do your shopping.
*One of our supporters, Sinead has a great system; after taking home her shopping and removing all the unwanted packaging, she keeps it in a reuse bag and drops it back each time she does her shop!
This is direct action at it’s finest.
Sick of Plastic have led two nationwide days of action, in April 2018 and April 2019, inviting communities all across Ireland to take action together.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have postponed our 2020 day of action. We hope to rearrange once life returns to normal on our island. For now we salute and thank the Irish Supermarkets for the trojan work they are doing to help us all at this difficult time.
Once we are back to normal, you don't have to wait for a nationwide event, you can organise a community shop and drop at your local supermarket any time you like!
Check out the Sick of Plastic Local Actions Map to connect with people in your area that also want to take action on plastic. We have all the resources and tools you need to run a ShopAndDrop together!
