Our team of recycling ambassadors have fully embraced festival season!
Festivals are notorious for generating waste. But there is definitely a shift happening with many festivals finding ways to reduce waste and spread a more environmentally friendly message. The Zero Waste Festival are definitely in the lead in promoting reuse and package free, show casing small businesses that provide better alternatives and hosting educational workshops. Dingle Food Festival are aiming to be waste free by 2020, promoting and selling reusable bamboo table ware instead of disposable. Friends of the Earth have been championing deposit and return since 2015 at Electric Picnic and more recently with Body & Soul Festival now in its second year doing the cup return. Refill Ireland have recently joined forces with Ice Water Ireland to set up water stations to reduce the amount of single use water bottle waste.
We are so excited to be in the mix of all of these great initiatives with our Recycling Workshops, together we are making Ireland's festivals less wasteful!
This weekend our Ambassadors attended the Zero Waste Festival, Stoneybatter Pride of Place, Body & Soul Festival and had the pleasure of chatting to change makers at the Ireland's first Climate Dialogue Gathering.
Earlier this Summer our ambassadors went along to Lafcadio Japanese Garden Fest, Blooms Day Festival and Cork City Marathon.
Next up we're heading to Durrow Scarecrow Festival and will be participating in Dublin PARKing Day - keep an eye on our list of events which we update regularly to attend a workshop near you.
If you have a community event coming up we'd love to come along and host a free workshop!
