Our coordinator, Mindy O'Brien, wrote a letter to the Metro Herald in response to an article written on the 25th of July by Ross McGuiness about the use of human excrement as a soil fertiliser.Mindy recommended the use of anaerobic digestion to harness the power of sewerage sludge, food waste, slurry and other organic waste. In her letter, she stated,"[i]t is insane not to invest more in AD (anaerobic digestion). It is abundant, local, uses waste which could cause environmental damage if not disposed of properly and is a renewable energy source.Instead of investing huge amounts in fracking and other non-renewable energy resources, urge the Government in invest in AD."
